How Ahri plays
Editorial Reading of the kit above, not a sourced claim - the numbers inside it were checked against the client before publishing.
Ahri wins fights by baiting the wrong move and punishing it. Orb of Deception looks like a simple poke but the true damage on the way back means she's often doing more than you'd guess from the number on the tooltip, and Fox-Fire's champion priority makes her surprisingly dangerous in a 1v1 even without landing a skillshot. The real threat is Charm: a single hit locks a target down and tacks on 20% bonus damage from her for the next several seconds, which is more than enough time for a full combo. Spirit Rush is what makes her feel unfair, three dashes that double as an escape, a chase tool, and a burst finisher depending on how she uses them. Essence Theft quietly rewards her for landing spells at all, stacking toward a free 35% spell vamp. Mana isn't a huge concern early but every Fox-Fire and Charm adds up fast in a longer trade.
Counters & matchups
Charm is the whole matchup: mages who have to stand still to cast lose to it, and mobile assassins who can wait it out beat her.
"In lane" means both champions are played in the same role in Classic; "across the map" represents cross-lane dynamics (e.g. jungler ganks, roaming supports). All matchups evaluated strictly within the 63 Classic launch champions.
