How masteries work
Three trees, thirty points, and a gate on every tier. Masteries are chosen per game, unlike runes - this is the part of your setup you actually change between matchups.
PBE verified · provisionalYou get 30 points at level 30 - one per summoner level. Spending them is the whole puzzle: a 21/9/0 page and a 9/21/0 page are different characters.
Each tier needs 4 points spent in earlier tiers of that same tree before it unlocks. That is why deep keystones cost so much commitment.
Standard splits people will recognise: 21/9/0, 9/21/0, 0/21/9, 21/0/9. The planner enforces the real gating, so anything it lets you build is legal.
The three trees
| Tree | Masteries | Tiers | Max ranks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Offense | 18 | 6 | 42 |
| Defense | 19 | 6 | 37 |
| Utility | 19 | 6 | 41 |
Counts are read from the client's mastery tables. "Max ranks" is the sum of every mastery's rank cap in that tree - far more than the 30 points you have, which is the point.
