Builds for Akali
Abilities
Description not yet transcribed - never back-filled from modern League.
Akali throws her kama at a target enemy to deal 45 / 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 magic damage and mark the target for 6 seconds. Akali's melee attacks against a marked target will consume the mark to cause 45 / 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 magic damage and restore 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 Energy. (+40% AP)
Akali throws down a cover of smoke that lasts for 8 seconds. While inside the area, Akali gains 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 Armor and 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 Magic Resist and becomes Invisible. Attacking or using abilities will briefly reveal her. Enemies inside the smoke are Slowed by 14 / 18 / 22 / 26 / 30%.
Akali flourishes her kamas, slicing nearby enemies for 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 physical damage. (+60% AD, +30% AP)
Akali moves through shadows to quickly strike her target, dealing 100 / 175 / 250 magic damage. Akali stores an Essence of Shadow on kills and assists as well as every 25 / 20 / 15 seconds up to 3 total. (+50% AP)
How Akali plays
Editorial Reading of the kit above, not a sourced claim - the numbers inside it were checked against the client before publishing.
Akali plays a two-hit game: Mark of the Assassin pokes and tags a target, and a follow-up melee attack detonates the mark for the same damage again while paying back some of her Energy, so a clean poke rarely costs her anything. Twilight Shroud is her whole identity in one spell, an 8-second smoke cloud that turns her invisible and tougher while she's inside it and slows anyone who wanders in, and only attacking or casting gives her away, so she can duel from inside it or vanish out of a losing fight entirely. Crescent Slash rounds out the burst against everyone nearby and scales off both her attack damage and ability power, which is why she never has to commit to just one. Shadow Dance is what makes the burst repeatable, a short blink-strike that banks a free reuse on a kill, an assist, or just by waiting, so a good all-in chains straight into the next one. Twin Disciplines rewards exactly that build path, adding bonus damage from whichever offensive stat she's ahead on. She runs on Energy rather than Mana, so nothing about her aggression is capped by a bar running dry, only by how many marks she can actually land.
Counters & matchups
Twin Disciplines pays in both currencies, and Mark of the Assassin wins extended mid trades - the counterplay is a point-click Silence, stacked Magic Resist, or vision dropped straight into Twilight Shroud.
"In lane" means both champions are played in the same role in Classic; "across the map" represents cross-lane dynamics (e.g. jungler ganks, roaming supports). All matchups evaluated strictly within the 63 Classic launch champions.
