Abilities
Jax gains 3 max Health per bonus Attack Damage and 2 max Health per bonus Ability Power from Items.
Jax leaps to a target unit, dealing 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 magic damage if it is an enemy. (+100% bonus AD, +80% AP)
Jax charges his weapon with energy, causing his next basic attack or Leap Strike to deal an additional 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 magic damage to his target and nearby enemies. (+20% bonus AD, +20% AP)
Jax enters a defensive stance for up to 2 seconds, dodging incoming Attacks and taking 25% less damage from area of effect Abilities. This Ability automatically Recasts at the end of the duration. Recast: Jax deals 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 physical damage and Stuns nearby enemies for 1 second. The damage is increased by 20% per Attack dodged, up to a maximum of 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 / 300. (+50% bonus AD)
Passive: Jax gains 6 / 10 / 14% attack speed every strike, stacking up to 10 times. Every third consecutive strike deals an additional 140 / 170 / 200 magic damage. (+70% AP)
How Jax plays
Editorial Reading of the kit above, not a sourced claim - the numbers inside it were checked against the client before publishing.
Committing to a fight against Jax without a plan usually goes badly. Counter Strike is the whole story: a brief dodge stance that shrugs off incoming attacks and reduces area damage, then recasts into a stun that hits harder for every attack he dodged along the way. That alone makes all-inning him a gamble. Leap Strike gets him into range quickly and Empower adds a burst of bonus damage to whatever he does next, whether that's an auto attack or the leap itself. Grandmaster's Might quietly stacks attack speed with every hit and detonates extra damage every third consecutive strike, so a straight fight against him only gets worse the longer it drags on. Equipment Mastery converts his item stats into bonus health, which makes him tankier than his build would suggest just from buying damage items. He has no reliable escape besides the leap, so he's still catchable if someone plans around the counter.
Counters & matchups
Counter Strike blanks auto-attack champions completely. Armor stacking and true damage are the two things it cannot dodge.
"In lane" means both champions are played in the same role in Classic; "across the map" represents cross-lane dynamics (e.g. jungler ganks, roaming supports). All matchups evaluated strictly within the 63 Classic launch champions.
