How Sona plays
Editorial Reading of the kit above, not a sourced claim - the numbers inside it were checked against the client before publishing.
Sona helps her team just by standing nearby, spell or no spell. Her three basic abilities each carry a persistent aura on top of their active effect, so just being near her passively boosts damage, resistances, or movement speed depending on which one she's leveled highest. Power Chord adds bonus damage to her next attack after every third spell cast, which rewards weaving her abilities together rather than saving them. Aria of Perseverance's active heal is a small but steady tool for keeping a lane partner topped off during trades. Crescendo is her one hard commitment, an area stun that can either pick off an isolated target or, caught in the right spot, force an entire enemy team to dance helplessly while her allies collapse on them. She has almost no way to protect herself directly, so her value depends entirely on positioning safely while still being close enough to buff the fight.
Counters & matchups
Auras and Aria of Perseverance win poke lanes; assassins beat her because 450 base health does not survive being reached.
"In lane" means both champions are played in the same role in Classic; "across the map" represents cross-lane dynamics (e.g. jungler ganks, roaming supports). All matchups evaluated strictly within the 63 Classic launch champions.
