Guide & Strategy Breakdown
AP Feast Cho'Gath gets bigger every time he eats something. Feast (R) is health you keep, and between Rupture (Q) and Feral Scream (W) very little gets to walk away from him.
AP Feast Cho'Gath gets bigger every time he eats something. Feast (R) is health you keep, and between Rupture (Q) and Feral Scream (W) very little gets to walk away from him.
How it plays
Carnivore feeds health back on minion kills, so Cho'Gath holds a lane without recalling. Feast (R) hits monsters for 1000 true damage and executes champions outright, and every cast makes him permanently larger and tougher, up to 6 stacks.
What to buy
- Starting Items: Doran's Ring and 2 Health Potions (or Cloth Armor + 5 Health Potions into heavy AD top laners).
- Core Build Rush: Mercury's Treads (provides tenacity to keep Cho'Gath moving and landing Feast R true damage executes), Sunfire Cape (combines with Vorpal Spikes E to passively clear minion waves without spending mana while granting high armor), Trinity Force (Sheen procs synergize with Cho'Gath's high base AD and Vorpal Spikes on-hit attacks, giving sticky movement speed on hit), and Spirit Visage (amplifies Carnivore passive HP/mana sustain on minion kills by +20% while capping CDR for more Rupture Q knockups).
- Situational Options: Randuin's Omen (active slow field), Frozen Heart (aura attack speed slow), Abyssal Scepter (increases magic damage of Vorpal Spikes and Rupture), and Warmog's Armor (a large flat HP pool).
Summoners and skill order
- Flash for Flash + Feast (R) true damage executes. Teleport for top lane map pressure.
- Max W (Feral Scream) or Q (Rupture) first depending on matchup (W for instant silence vs mobile mages, Q for knockup). Max E (Vorpal Spikes) second.
New to the champion?
Combos worth drilling
- Silence & Knockup: W (Feral Scream) instant silence -> Q (Rupture) knockup under silenced target -> Auto (Vorpal Spikes E) -> R (Feast) execute.
- Sustain Farming: Kill minion waves to trigger Carnivore passive, restoring HP and mana on every last hit.
Mistakes to avoid
- Don't save Feast (R) only for champions early: Stack Feast to 6 stacks as fast as possible by executing jungle monsters or minion waves on cooldown.
- Don't lead trades with Q Rupture: Q has a delay indicator on the ground. Silence with W first so enemies cannot dash out of Q.
Playing it out
- Early Game (Levels 1-5): Use Carnivore passive to sustain all traded health by farming minion waves. Silence enemies with Feral Scream (W) when they try to trade.
- Mid Game (Levels 6-11): Stack Feast (R) to 6 stacks on jungle camps or minions. Save Feast when objective fights near to secure Dragon with Smite-level true damage.
- Late Game (Levels 12+): Act as an unkillable frontline tank. Land Rupture (Q) knockups on enemy carries and execute low-health targets with Feast.
