Crit Splitpusher Tryndamere takes a side lane and never gives it back. Battle Fury crits, Spinning Slash (E) gets him out, and Undying Rage (R) buys 5 seconds of simply not dying.
How it plays
Tryndamere makes a Season 3 team choose between stopping him and playing the rest of the map. Battle Fury builds on attacks and hands him up to 35% critical strike chance for free. Undying Rage (R) holds his health at 1 HP for 5 seconds no matter what hits him, which is usually long enough to win the fight or leave it.
What to buy
- Starting Items: Doran's Blade and Health Potion.
- Core Build Rush: Berserker's Greaves (attack speed boosts Fury generation rate), Statikk Shiv (Shiv lightning can critically strike via Battle Fury passive free crit chance +35%, allowing Tryndamere to clear minion waves in 1 second), Blade of the Ruined King (provides attack speed, lifesteal, and an active slow to keep enemy defenders in melee range during tower dives), and Infinity Edge (multiplies critical strike damage, enabling 2-shot kills on squishies during Undying Rage R immortality).
- Situational Options: Last Whisper (strips armor so splitpush basic attacks destroy towers and tanks alike), The Bloodthirster, Ravenous Hydra, and Guardian Angel.
Summoners and skill order
- Flash (or Ghost) and Teleport (or Ignite).
- Max Q (Bloodlust) first for flat AD scaling and heal consumption. Max E (Spinning Slash) second for mobility cooldown (crit hits reduce E CD by 1-2 seconds). Max W (Mocking Shout) third for AD reduction and slow.
New to the champion?
Combos worth drilling
- 100 Fury Crit Spinning: Build 100 Fury on minions (+35% free crit) -> E (Spinning Slash) into target -> land 2-3 crits -> W (Mocking Shout) slow if they turn around.
- Undying Tower Dive: Push wave -> walk under tower -> activate R (Undying Rage) 5-second immortality -> kill defender -> E spin over wall -> Q (Bloodlust) heal.
Mistakes to avoid
- Don't press Q Bloodlust before activating R: Q consumes all Fury to heal. Keep 100 Fury for 35% crit chance while under R immortality.
- Don't activate R Undying Rage too late: Tap R at 10% HP to guarantee you don't die to burst spells.
Playing it out
- Early Game (Levels 1-5): Build 100 Fury on minion waves to gain 35% free crit chance. Spin in with E Spinning Slash and land 2-3 heavy critical strikes on the enemy top laner.
- Mid Game (Levels 6-11): Splitpush top lane relentlessly. Drive under enemy towers with Undying Rage (R) active, kill the defender, spin over the wall with E, and consume Q Fury to heal.
- Late Game (Levels 12+): Never leave splitpush lanes unless Baron is up. Force enemy teams to send 2-3 champions to stop you, spinning away while your team takes objectives.
