Guide & Strategy Breakdown
Bruiser Jarvan IV. Demacian Standard into Dragon Strike knocks them up, and Cataclysm puts a wall around whoever you picked.
Bruiser Jarvan IV. Demacian Standard into Dragon Strike knocks them up, and Cataclysm puts a wall around whoever you picked.
How it plays
Use the Demacian Standard and Dragon Strike combo to knock enemies up, then trap the fight in Cataclysm. This row is the actual bruiser split the title advertises: half the gold in staying alive inside your own arena, half in the attack damage every part of Jarvan's kit scales with.
What to buy
- Spirit of the Ancient Golem carries the clear and the health that lets Cataclysm land in the middle of five people.
- Ninja Tabi blunts the autoattack harassment a diving jungler eats by profession.
- The Black Cleaver is the bruiser core: attack damage for Dragon Strike, health to fight through the answer, cooldown reduction for the next flag-and-drag, and its armor shred stacks with Dragon Strike's own.
- Randuin's Omen because after Cataclysm closes, everyone inside it is attacking you.
Situational Options
- Spirit Visage into damage-over-time compositions.
- Runic Bulwark when nobody else will buy the aura.
- Frozen Mallet when the enemy simply walks out of the arena.
- Guardian Angel for the games where the engage must happen twice.
Summoners and skill order
- Flash and Smite (or Ignite / Exhaust).
- Max core damage ability first, secondary utility second.
New to the champion?
Combos worth drilling
- E-Q Flag Knockup: Cast E (Demacian Standard) flag -> immediately cast Q (Dragon Strike) targeting the flag. J-IV drags himself to the flag, knocking up all enemies in his path.
- Cataclysm Lockdown: R (Cataclysm) leap onto low-mobility carries to trap them inside impassable arena walls for 3.5 seconds.
Mistakes to avoid
- Don't trap your own allies in Cataclysm (R): R creates terrain that traps allies too. Press R a second time to drop the walls if your ally is trapped.
- Don't miss the E-Q flag line: Dragging yourself to the flag strips 26% enemy armor; practice the E-Q target alignment in practice games.
Playing it out
Gank off the flag-toss knockup from level 3 - it is among the most forgiving engage tools in the mode. Save Cataclysm to trap the carry, not to open the fight, and remember the wall serves both sides: dropping it on your own immobile carry is a remembered mistake. Demacian Standard's passive attack speed quietly speeds every clear; keep it leveled second.
- Additional Options: Hunter's Machete
