AP Control Anivia from Season 3. Anivia buys Rod of Ages and Archangel's Staff for the mana pool, then spends it zoning and clearing waves. Frostbite (E) hits hardest on targets already chilled.

How it plays

Anivia decides where the enemy team is allowed to walk. Rebirth gives her a second life, so she can lane far more aggressively than her health bar suggests. The plan is to stall until the items land, at which point Glacial Storm (R) clears waves on its own and turns the dragon and baron pits into places nobody wants to stand.

What to buy

  • Starting Items: Doran's Ring and 2 Health Potions for early laning sustain, mana regen, and AP trading.
  • Core Build Rush: Sorcerer's Shoes (amplifies Frostbite E double-damage against chilled targets by stripping base MR), Rod of Ages (solves the mana drain from toggleable Glacial Storm R while granting HP to survive egg dives), Archangel's Staff / Seraph's Embrace (converts her huge mana pool into AP while providing a Seraph shield during ultimate channels), and Rabadon's Deathcap (multiplies her high 1.0 AP ratio on chilled Frostbite nukes).
  • Situational Options: Void Staff (cuts through Aegis/Bulwark magic resist stacks on tanks), Zhonya's Hourglass (grants stasis while Glacial Storm continues burning beneath enemies), Liandry's Torment (double % max HP magic burn on targets slowed by Glacial Storm), and Banshee's Veil (prevents enemy CC from interrupting channel R).

Summoners and skill order

  • Flash and Ignite (or Teleport for global map pressure).
  • Max E (Frostbite) first for primary single-target burst against chilled enemies. Max Q (Flash Frost) second for missile stun damage. 1 point in W (Crystallize) early for wall terrain control.

New to the champion?

Combos worth drilling

  • The Frostbite Combo: Land Q (Flash Frost) stun -> press E (Frostbite) immediately for DOUBLE damage. Or toggle R (Glacial Storm) under target -> E nuke.
  • Wall Trap: Place W (Crystallize) behind an enemy to force them into your Q stun or block them inside Glacial Storm's slow zone.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Don't detonate Q too early or too late: Press Q a second time while the orb passes through the enemy to trigger the stun explosion.
  • Don't lose Rebirth passive under enemy tower: If enemy jungler ganks, don't egg under enemy tower, as tower shots will destroy your egg.

Playing it out

  • Early Game (Levels 1-5): Farm safely and look for Q -> E trades when enemies step past their wave. Save Rebirth passive to bait enemy junglers into tower dives.
  • Mid Game (Levels 6-11): Toggle Glacial Storm (R) to clear waves in 2 seconds, then push and take enemy raptors or rotate to Dragon fights.
  • Late Game (Levels 12+): Wall off enemy carries with Crystallize (W) in choked jungle pathways, drop Glacial Storm under frontline tanks, and land double-damage E nukes.
