Guide & Strategy Breakdown
Shield your carry with Eye Of The Storm, then blow whoever jumped on them back out with Howling Gale and Monsoon.
Shield your carry with Eye Of The Storm, then blow whoever jumped on them back out with Howling Gale and Monsoon.
How it plays
Janna's job in Season 3 is to make engage not work. Tailwind gives her whole team +3% movement speed just for her being alive. Howling Gale (Q) catches dashes in mid-air, which ends an Alistar Headbutt, a Leona Zenith Blade or a Jarvan EQ. Eye of the Storm (E) is a shield plus bonus AD, so it wins the trade as well as surviving it, and Monsoon (R) deletes a bad teamfight and heals the aftermath. Best alongside trade-heavy ADCs (Vayne, Caitlyn, Draven), who get the most out of Eye of the Storm's bonus AD.
What to buy
- Starting Items: Faerie Charm, 3 Sight Wards, and Health Potions for lane sustain and brush vision.
- Core Build Rush: Boots of Mobility (enhances Tailwind passive movement speed boost for fast map rotations), Ruby Sightstone (vision control to set up Howling Gale Q tornados from fog of war), Philosopher's Stone (GP10 gold income and mana/HP regen), and Kage's Lucky Pick / Shurelya's Reverie (Shurelya's 40% team speed active combined with Zephyr W movement speed keeps allies un-catchable).
- Situational Options: Locket of the Iron Solari (teamwide shield during Monsoon R resets), Mikael's Crucible (cleanses CC from allied ADC), and Banshee's Veil.
Summoners and skill order
Flash is what repositions you for clutch Monsoon (R) knockbacks or Flash + Q tornado intercepts. Exhaust shuts down enemy assassins and ADCs diving your backline in teamfights.
Max E (Eye of the Storm) first for maximum shield capacity and bonus Attack Damage to win bot lane trades. Max W (Zephyr) second for passive movement speed and targeted slow %. Keep 1 point in Q (Howling Gale) early solely for dash-stopping knockup CC.
9x Armor Marks, 9x Armor Seals, 9x MR Glyphs, 3x Movement Speed / Gold per 10 Quints. Masteries run 0/9/21 taking Wanderer, Greed, Wealth, and Intelligence in Utility for maximum movement speed and support gold generation.
Hardest counter to hard-engage dive supports (Alistar, Leona, Blitzcrank) and melee divers (Jax, Master Yi, Jarvan IV) whose dashes are completely canceled by Howling Gale (Q). Weak against heavy poke supports (Sona, Zyra) who break Eye of the Storm shields with spell harassment. Works best with trade-heavy ADCs (Vayne, Caitlyn, Draven), who get the most out of Eye of the Storm's bonus AD.

Combos worth drilling
- Tornado Disengage & Peel: Double-tap Q (Howling Gale) to launch an instant tornado that knocks up diving enemies.
- Shield & Attack Buff: Cast E (Eye of the Storm) on your ADC during trades to grant a shield and +50 Attack Damage.
- Monsoon Reset: Cast R (Monsoon) in 5v5 teamfights to knock all diving enemies away from your ADC while restoring team HP.
Mistakes to avoid
- Don't charge Q Howling Gale facing the wrong way: Point Q in the direction the enemy will run, not where they are right now.
- Don't knock low-HP enemies to safety with R: Position behind or beside enemies before pressing R so you don't save them.
Playing it out
- Early Game (Levels 1-5): Shield your ADC with Eye of the Storm (E) whenever they step forward to trade, granting them bonus AD. Keep Howling Gale (Q) un-charged to instantly cancel enemy support engages.
- Mid Game (Levels 6-11): Buy Boots of Mobility and roam with your jungler to clear enemy wards using Sightstone and Vision Wards. Secure Dragon with Tailwind passive speed advantages.
- Late Game (Levels 12+): Position next to your ADC in 5v5 teamfights. Use Howling Gale (Q) and Zephyr (W) to perma-kite divers, and channel Monsoon (R) whenever enemy tanks dive your backline to reset the fight.
